Feelings

Sad feelings happy feelings
Like an uneven scale
Excited people joyful people
Matches up the scale
Lonely people depressed people
Like unwanted
Hearts
Tremendous feelings marvelous feelings
Like visiting the gates

Antarctica

Antarctica

Fossils of plants and ancient dinosaurs found in Antarctica show the continent once had a warm climate.  Trees and plants grew there before the land drifted towarss the frozen south pole.  This took millions of years.

Now Antarctica is the world's most windiest and coldest region with ice 5kg thick in parts.  Some recorded wind speeds are over 300 km/h stronger than most cyclones.

Thousands of beautiful sea and penguins feed in the oceans around Antarctica but no land animals live on the continent.  We can see only tiny insects and not one green tree.

Only scientists and other workers live in this huge area of land.  Each year thousands of tourists visit the warmer parts in planes or ships.  We hope they don't spoil this  large part of the world.

School Project

In Tech I am doing woodwork and we are making a project that can hold 4 pieces of paper and hold 2 pencils, but we also have to have a design.  My design that is going on my project is my country flag.  The flag has three pictures on it.  It has a picture of a yellow frigate bird and that stands for peace and freedom, the sun stand for every new day and finally the waves stand for the Pacific Ocean and the whit stripes stand for the three island groups.

Christmas Drive Though

This weekend I sent Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from 7pm to 9pm doing a Christmas drive through.  The Christmas drive through was to tell people what Christmas is about and what happened on Christmas.  It was a very fun night for everyone and I really enjoyed my part, and my pat was playing a shepherd role.  Shepherds were involved because on Christmas eve a group of shepherds were out on the field looking after their flogs and all of a sudden out of nowhere and angle appeared, and told then about the saviour that was born and thousands of angles appeared and started singing, and that is why shepherds were involved.

Pathfinders Investiture

On Saturday I had my investiture and I was awarded with 6 badges and I got all these badges for working hard on it and completing all my honours.  We had to march into the church and be seated in our seats to start the parade.  After that we invited the whole church to our picnic at Glendawy because we had finished Pathfinders for the year.

Compare and Contrast

Stormwater and Wastewater
LI: To understand the difference between stormwater and wastewater

Know Your Drains!

There are 2 types of drains (see the diagram above):
  • Inside drains like your toilet, sinks and washing machine that go to the sewer treatment plant.
  • Outside drains like your gutters, driveway drains and roadside stormwater drains that go directly into our streams, lake and beaches without any treatment!  So anything tipped, washed or accidentally spilled into an outside drain will end up in our streams, lake and on our beaches – and then we swim and fish in it!

The Main Message to Get Out There!

  • Nothing but clean rainwater should run into stormwater drains.  When chemicals and wastes such as oil, paint, detergents, or even food and green waste (leaves etc.) flow down stormwater drains, they run directly into streams or the sea untreated.  These pollutants can kill fish, shellfish, insects, plants and other living things, as well as polluting the water we swim in!

Challenge 1

Read the statements below and copy and paste them onto the chart. To do this correctly you will need to identify which statements are about wastewater and which statements are about stormwater

Compare and Contrast Chart

Stormwater
Wastewater
  • Collects wastewater from outside your house
  • Collects rainwater from roofs, yards and driveways
  • Flows into stormwater pipes which carries run-off into the nearest stream, harbour and beach
  • Pollutants include rubbish, paint, animal faeces, garden rubbish, pesticides, air pollution, chemicals, soil, grass clippings, grease and oil, detergent, rubber, heavy metals from cars such as zinc and copper
  • Goes down roadside drains or stormwater drains on roads yards and car parks.
  • Goes down pipes into sewage pipes
  • Flows into sewage treatment plant before being dispersed into the environment
  • Collects wastewater from inside houses, offices, schools, factories etc
  • Pollutants include food scraps, detergents, paint, human faeces, grease and oil

Personal Goals T4

Reflecting and Goal Setting
Term 3-4

Reading:
This term I learnt more about the New Zealand landforms by reading stories on mountains, finding more facts on the internet and by listening to other peoples story.

My reading goal for Term 4 is to read and understand what I am reading and to skim and scan quickly when looking for information.
To achieve my goal I will need to keep reading at home and tell someone at home what I am reading.
Writing:
This term I learnt more about information reports and working collaboratively to complete it, and also finding more information on the report we were writing and writing it in our own words.

My writing goal for Term 4 is to write everything in my own words, keep writing ta home and us for powerful words.
To achieve my goal I will need to keep writing at home and ues more powerful words.
Maths:
This term I learnt more about fractions, multiplication, division and percentages, for percentages we had to use our times tables and we also used blocks to help us.

My maths goal for Term 4 is to listen carefully so I understand what I am going to do and learn my times tables so I know it very well.
To achieve my goal I will need to learn my times tables at home and tell someone at home what we did at school so they can help me with something that I am stuck on.
Personal:

My personal goal for Term 4 is  to behave more better, listen to the teacher more often and to show good model to young journeys.
To achieve my goal I will need to listen, do as what I have been told, learn my times tables, keep reading and to keep writing at home.

Here is my Term 4's goal settings and it talks about what I will do this term to achieve everything  I need to know before I get to college.
