Maruwai Bootcamp

On Friday myself and the pathfinder club all went down to Maruwai Boot camp, but we were the late comers so we got there late.

On Saturday our first activity for my class was drawing New Zealand's native trees and the two that I had was the Pohutukawa tree, and it is well know as New Zealand native tree and the other one was flags and I’m sure you all know that the Maoris used flags for a lot of certain things.

Later on after lunch we all got ready for our long walk to the beach.  On our way we  all came past particular rocks that were made out of the volcanic explosion and they all had odd shapes, because the massive waves kept hiding the rocks and formed a odd shape on the side.  These volcanic rocks are used for birds to built their nests and while we were there we saw a lot of people fishing.  After that we all walked back to Maruwai beach and then we were all instructed to get into our classes and make something that we learnt with the sand.  Later on after that activity we got put in 5 groups and our instruction was to make the deepest hole so that the shortest person could go deep in the hole, and my group won that challenge and we all received our price straight away.

When we all got back to the camp side we played a little game of volleyball, and all of a sudden a lot of our players were dragged out to their classes so we all so ended up in our class, and later on we all worked into our free choice so instead of free time we all ended watching T.V. after fellowship.

later on after dinner we all watched T.V. again and played around, then the Rangers ( my class ) were call to receive their treat and to receive our treat we had to say our memory gym again and if we had it right we got our price, and then the pathfinders were sent to bed.

Sunday was the last day of camp and after breakfast we all packed up our tents and loaded up the vans, then straight after that we practiced our marching for the ANZAC parade on Thursday.

on that last day I enjoyed our swim in the beach and we all experienced a life grade rescuing someone that were getting dragged out by the current and luckily he was all right.

That was an awesome camp and I can’t wait for the next one.
